Gursky´s Bild wurde damit zeitweilig zur teuersten Fotografie der Welt und es machte Andreas Gursky zu einem der erfolgreichsten Fotografen der Gegenwart. Ausnahmsweise ist hier der Preis des Bildes für die Besprechung bedeutsam, denn er wirft die Frage auf, was dieses Bild aus den Abermillionen anderer Fotografien hervorhebt und was den extremen Wert auf dem Kunstmarkt bewirkt hat.
Aktuell ist da ein Projekt betroffen, dass ich für mich `Architektur der Abgrenzung´ genannt habe. Seit ca. einem halben Jahr fotografiere ich nämlich Zäune und Mauern die – so zumindest mein Eindruck – nur dazu da sind den fremden Blick abzuwehren.
Fotograf. Andreas Gursky (deutsch, 15.01.1955) wird in Leipzig geboren und wächst in Düsseldorf auf, wo sein Vater als Werbefotograf arbeitet. Mit Anfang 20 studiert Gursky Fotografie an der Folkwang Universität, die zu dieser Zeit in Westdeutschland führende Einrichtung für professionelle Fotografie.
